The Center for Smart Surfaces Leipzig – CS2 focuses on the use of printing as a coating process for the transfer of functional materials.
At the center is the “MicroFLEX” coating system from 3D Micromac AG, a modular system with eight flexible modules optimised for coating, laminating and drying processes, which was inaugurated in June 2024. This machine processes materials such as paper, film, and glass, as well as electrically conductive and biologically active substances. It provides an experimental platform for research and industrial projects, from scientific studies to pilot productions.
This allowes new concepts for printed electronics, sustainable packaging and microfluidic medical technology components to be devoloped.
The Center for Smart Surfaces Leipzig - CS2 aims at advancing the development and production of intelligent surfaces that meet both functional and aesthetic requirements. The realization of new optical and functional properties through surface treatment and coating are the focus of its research work.

ANALYTICAL CENTER
The analysis of newly developed substances, the testing of materials and components, the development of new processes and materials have been part of research projects at HTWK Leipzig for many years.
